History of automatic Rifles
Nov 10, 2017

AR-15 was designed on the basis of a 7.62-millimeter AR-10, Yukin Stoner by Phil Chad Amalet Inc. AR-15 was developed as a lightweight model based on AR-10, using 5.56 mm bullets. (the "AR" in AR-15 is from the English name of the Amalet, not the assault rifle (assault rifle)). Because it was the first to use a 5.56-millimeter rifle, it was hailed as a small-caliber rifle.

Amalet sold its AR-10 and AR-15 production rights to colt in 1959. Colt sold AR-15 rifles to many military organizations around the world, including the U.S. Air Force, the Army and the Marines. AR-15 was gradually procured by the U.S. military, but it was the name of M16. However, Colt is still using AR-15 's trademark in semi-automatic models (AR-15, AR-15A2) of the gun to the public and to the buyers of the law enforcement agencies. The original AR-15 was a very lightweight weapon that was less than 6 pounds in the empty magazine. Of course, the heavy-barrel version of the civil AR-15 can weigh up to 8.5 pounds.

Today, civilian versions of AR-15 and its variants are made by a number of companies and are favored by world-wide shooting enthusiasts and police because they are cheap, accurate and modular.
